A Tale of two Bridges

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 27/06/2017 by Andrew21/07/2017

On a recent bike ride we  decided to go via the rickety Bridge Near Nong Sawang. It used to be made of  Made of Bamboo over a small stream. However on this ride it seems it had been upgraded but never the less had been swept away by recent rains over a river that had turned into a torrent .

Ian Suggested we wade across to the other side – I went first but since I went over my knees on the first step & the current was  stronger that it looked – we decided to retrace our steps and go the other way around.

The Next Ride entailed going through Kham Chanot. The back way in over a Bridge had been out of commission for years. However a quick detour resulted in finding that the road had been culverted & rebuilt.

With a strong water flow how long it will last this time is debatable. But one bridge down & another rebuilt.

The usual Parade was delayed by an hour but still took place despite this setback.

KhamChanot Phenomenon

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 23/02/2017 by Andrew04/03/2017

Ever Since Kham Chanot appeared on a Thai Soap Opera, tourists have been flooding to the temple traveling from all over the country. Literally hundreds of roadsides stalls have appeared along all the major ( & some minor )  roads to the temple selling flower displays in the form of a Naga.

The car park has been extended & additional ones have been created outside the temple grounds to cater for all the Cars,Mini buses and coaches arriving in a steady stream.

The traffic through Ban Dung is now considerable as the locals try to capitalise on the arrival of all these new visitors .
