Return To Thung Fon

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 02/07/2010 by Andrew02/07/2010

Went back to Thung Fon to take some pictures of the Lake & Park – unfortunately they didn’t come out very well because all I had was my Camera Phone. This is new entrance sign that looks like it has just been erected.

It took me 5 hours there and back – where the time went I don’t know.

Banded Krait

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 01/07/2010 by Andrew01/07/2010

Have been out on my bike re-exploring some of the dirt tracks that I had forgotten where they went. In places it is like a maze & has taken a couple of days for me to remember most of them again.  Yesterday I came across a Banded Krait on the road.

Fortunately for me it was already dead – a car had run over it as they are venomous & potentially fatal

Thai Wedding

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 01/07/2010 by Andrew01/07/2010

Went to the reception of a Thai couple that had just got married. It was held in one of the local schools and there were over 500 guests.

It followed the usual format with a compere and dancing “girls!” . The food consisted of 5 courses including Tom Yam,Duck and fish courses along with Beer and Whisky on the tables. It is customary for guests to make a Donation in a sealed envelope which goes to offset the costs. The more money you have the higher the contribution you are supposed to make – but in reality nobody knows how much you gave.

We left before the end of the festivities because Tim had to go to work.

Stolen Fish

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 16/06/2010 by Andrew16/06/2010

Went down to the lake- it is now starting to fill up.

However the following day somebody stole our fish which we had in the smaller lake behind the dam. We are now considering fencing off the entire area. Many times people are helping themselves to the vegetables around the lake and now the fish themselves. Tim suspects the owner of the land located behind ours. If we fence our land off he will then have no access to his land.

Return to Phibun Rak

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 14/06/2010 by Andrew14/06/2010

With the weather hopefully starting to cool down I have started going out on my iBke again for longer rides. My first one was to Phibun Rak again to get some more photos of the temples there.

The total journey time was 4 hours.

Fertilizing the Paddy Fields

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 29/05/2010 by Andrew29/05/2010

Spent yesterday fertilising the paddy fields with our own home produced fertilizer. The next stage is to plough it into the soil when the rains start in earnest.

Fertilizer and Weather

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 26/05/2010 by Andrew26/05/2010

Today we finished fertilising the rubber trees on plantation number one. That is all the trees done until the autumn when we will do them again. next on the agenda is  sewing the rice paddies which we will start next month. On another note the rains are increasing in frequency with another storm yesterday afternoon which lasted into the evening.
