The former Gary’s Bar is due to Re-Open as a Grill restaurant called the Jungle grill. My information is that it will be marketed as a Restaurant selling beer rather than a Bar selling food . The new owner is English & awaiting New signs, etc.etc before they open.

Went to Dong Dara today at Ians request to Check out Santiphap Media; Still unsure what they actually do ?!.
Road Wideneing
They have just started Widening the road from Nong Han to the Ban Dung turn off on route 22. It should make this way faster & safer. Why didn’t they complete these last few kilometers when they widened the road from Udon to Nong Han in the first place ??

TOPS
I have it on good authority a TOPS food market is to open in town next month. It will occupy the old motorbike shop where the road narrows from 2 to 1 lane as you approach town from the Hospital. Work has already started fitting it out.
Road Repairs
Nobody can understand whats happening after 10years of pot holes & unmaintained roads they seems to have started a major effort to repair/resurface all the roads in the Amphoer . The Three most obvious are the roads from Ban Dung to Non Sawang, Thon Na Lab & Kut Du which have been in major need of repair since I can remember. Also they seem to have done minor repairs in many of the roads around town.
New Thesaban Offices
A new Thesaban administration building has been built adjacent to the sports complex.
In our terms they are new council offices for the Municipality – Thesaban mueang – (Thai: เทศบาลเมือง) of Ban Dung.
A Bridge too far
At Ian’s request we did the track from Omko to Ban Na DinChi which involves crossing a footbridge over the river. Unfortunately the end of the rack ends 20-30m from the Bridge and hence we had a choice of wading thru Mud or walking thru overgrown Bushes & Bamboo to reach it & carry on from the otherside .
At this point I think I picked up a thorn in my tyre because 500m from Dong Yen My front tyre went flat. After changing it (with some difficulty) it went flat immediately again. I opted to walk into Dong Yen and look for a BpaYang (Tyre Repair) shop.
Unfortunately it was a Big Buddha day and they were all shut. However an old man on a Motorbike helped us out by finding one that was still open & guiding us to it.
He repaired the tube – Price 20Baht & I gave him a 20Baht tip well worth the money. So A ride that should have taken 2hrs 30 mins took over 3 hours.
