Keswick -June 2016

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 27/06/2016 by Andrew28/10/2016

Spent two days in theĀ  lake district based in Keswick. One of the routes we did was the old coach road.

There were warnings that the route was virtualy unrideable due to heavy erosion the previous year with deep ruts in places but we proceded anyway but did not encounter anybody else attempting it.

This is another popular ride with the roadies. One of three climbs they do in a day.

Rice Sowing

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 26/05/2016 by Andrew01/05/2022

Its that time of year again & everybody is busy sowing the rice again. It won’t belong before the countryside turns green again instead of a dusty brown.

Phon Phisai

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 21/05/2016 by Andrew31/10/2016

I had an impromptu ride up to Phon Phisai to see the Mekong. I originally hadn’t intended to go that far but it was overcast for the first few hours in the morning & the air temperature was a lot cooler making it possible.

They are currently building a wider esplanade along the river front ( Similar to that in Nong Khai but on a smaller scale).

Retail News

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 15/05/2016 by Andrew15/05/2016

A new PTT petrol Station & 7-Eleven outlet is being built just before Tesco Lotus as you leave town. A survey has also been done canvassing opinion about opening a Big-C supermarket in town as well. If it goes ahead it will probably be a Big-C MarketĀ  comparable in size with the Existing Tesco Lotus store.

Last time I visited here this Temple on the lake was still being constructed , Now it has been completed.

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 30/04/2016 by Andrew09/01/2017

The region is currently experiencing some summer storms , Bringing Electricity poles and Billboards in Charoen Sin as well as causing damage to many Rubber trees. This house in Udon Thani Province illustrates some of the damage caused .

Joys Coffee House

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 30/04/2016 by Andrew03/05/2022

Joys coffee House is a bar/Restaurant owned by Arden ( from Wales) and his wife Joy.

As you enter Ban Dung from the Hospital , Turn right as you approach the park instead of turning left to the traffic lights. Then take the second right again & it is located about 20 meters down on your right.
The interior is all wood & has a nice convivial atmosphere. They now also have a food menu which is prepared in the kitchen to rear behind a newly installed Boules court.
