BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 14/03/2016 by Andrew23/03/2016

It is with deep regret that I have to report that Eddie Carey ( Of Eddies Sports Bar Fame ) Died Saturday Night ( Suspected Heat Attack). His body still needs authorisation by the UK embassy to be released back to Pin before any funeral Plans can be arranged ( which I a persuing on her behalf) . His Death marks the end of an Era in Ban Dung & who nobody will ever be able to replace.

R.I.P. Eddie

His funeral ( Cremation) will take place on the 19th at 1.00pm in his home village ( Ban Thung Kwang Pattana approx 15k out of ban Dung ). A high turn out is expected with people from travelling from Udon & Chang Mai to pay there last respects .

Eddies Sport Bar – The End of An Era

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 13/11/2015 by Andrew21/05/2016

A Sad Day in Ban Dung  – Eddies Sports Bar has closed its shutters for the last time. Last Night when I went they were removing the last pieces of furniture & fittings. This marks the end of Ban Dung’s oldest & Internationally renowned Farang Bar which has been going for well over 10 years under its previous stewardship .

Jack was unable to find a last minute buyer & with the rent now due he had already taken the decision to  close the bar it was just a matter of when not if. However the day before he had given no inkling it was going to be so soon.

Eddies Sport Bar For Sale

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 20/10/2015 by Andrew21/05/2016

I have been informed by the proprietor ( Jack), that he wishes to sell the bar – any reasonable offer will be considered. Since his partner returned to Australia he has had to step into the breach running the bar. However he now wishes to concentrate his efforts on his farm again . Hence the reason for the sale. He can be contacted thru me or via the Eddiesbar.Bandunglife.info website.

Road to Nong Song Hong

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 25/09/2015 by Andrew07/09/2016

Finally they have started work resurfacing the road heading towards Nong Song Hong on the way to Thon Na Lab. This has  been the worst road in the district for a long time. Currently as the picture shows they have just leveled the road with din prior to resurfacing with tarmac, so for the moment it is a very muddy .

They have also started work in the village of Nong Song Hong itself, so hopefully in a couple of weeks the work will have been finished. That is not to say all the potholes will have been filled in, there are still quite a few sections where no work is being carried out at the moment.

Igloos Bar Closes

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 22/09/2015 by Andrew22/09/2015

As of yesterday  – Igloos bar has permanently closed, and the premises have been sub-let to Thai’s who will be opening it as just a shop. Rob plans to move all the fittings to his new house in Nong Dtae ( Approx 5k out of Ban Dung heading towards Nong Mek) and open a small bar there.

However other establishments have opened in the meantime. A new Garry”s bar on the way to Phon Sung, Ardens Coffee shop in town, Klaus’s coffee shop ( just past Tesco) and a New farang/Thai restaurant – Steak Asia. More details & pictures on these new establishments to follow.
