Thung Fon,Nong Han and Phibun Rak

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 06/06/2011 by Andrew10/06/2011

I still had two or three villages to locate in Amphoer Thung Fon. To save Time I went up the main road turning left just before Thung Yai at Ban Pho. I did the obligatory tour of the lake before locating one of the villages. Then back into Thung Fon before heading of to another Phon Sung. Then back to the main Road whre I crossed over to locate a couple more villages.

Peacock Tail Tree at Ban Kham Charoen

From here I dropped into Amphoe Nong Han for a while en route to Na Sai and some more villages I was missing In Amphoe Phibun Rak.

Na Sai

I continued on before cutting off to Ban Glui and then to Ban Tung Where I rejoined the Phen road and headed back to Ban Dung. Yet another 6 hour plus ride.

Misplaced

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 02/06/2011 by Andrew03/06/2011

Originally went out for a Short ride to locate some more villages. However I took a wrong turning and found myself on the way to Phen. Since my water was getting low I carried on the extra 7k to Phen itself and bought four bottles of water to refill my stocks. Got back home after 6.5 hours so a rest day tomorrow.

Up to Sank Khom

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 01/06/2011 by Andrew02/06/2011

Biked up to Sank Khom and around the Big Reservoir Yesterday – Quite Scenic . The day started of cloudy but after a few hours the sun came out again. However I have added more village names to my map of Sank Khom and a few more tracks,

There was a Thundersorm in the Night and a  welcome relief  from the past week of Hot weather.

Phibun Rak,Thung Fon and Sangkom

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 28/05/2011 by Andrew30/05/2011

After completing my mapping of Amphoe Bandung I have decided to extend it to cover the entire Amphoer’s Thung Fon,Phibun Rak and Thung Fon and the remaining Tambon adjacent to Ban Dung. Phibun Rak and Thung Fon are well under way after 5 & 6 Hour Bike rides to these amphoe to try and locate all the villages and Tracks. However it will take a least 2 more rides to each Amphoerto get to the further most villages. For a change my Next ride will be to Sang khom to start exploring all the villages there.

Market Day

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 04/05/2011 by Andrew30/05/2011

It was the Monthly Market yet again. It seemed busier than ever with Long Queues in the Banks and at the ATM machines.

Many People had come into town on Samlors which were parked everywhere.

New Rubber Trees

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 03/05/2011 by Andrew30/05/2011

Tim Had decided to open up some Trees on Plots 1 & 2. However I have since told her to stop. I want to wait until next month to make it more economically viable when there will be more trees of sufficient size to cut.

Looking for off road route to Ban Chan

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 21/04/2011 by Andrew10/06/2011

After going to see how construction was going on at plot number 2 . I set off to Lao Luang passing these statues of Elephants  and then turned right at the temple gates –

then past the temple gardens & Lake  where I got a puncture.

From there  I carried  on to Wang Thong to see if I could find a way through to Ban Chan without going up the Tarmac Road to Ban Sai Mun. I followed the same route as I had done previously but turned right before reaching Ban Wang Sombat. The track deteriorated rapidly and I thought it would turn out to be a dead end. However motorbikes passed me going in both directions so I carried on. I emerged at lake Nong Kwan on a more substantial red din road.

After cycling round the perimeter I proceeded ont a Red Din Track to Ban Sai Mun before returning to Ban Dung. It requires another visit and instead of heading North from the lake I need to take the track heading east to see if I can get to Ban Tum  further North or Back to Kam Chanot in the south.

Shorter route to Sawang Daen Din

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 16/04/2011 by Andrew17/04/2011

Went to try and find the shorter route ( South east Route) to SDD. The route goes from Omko and across a lake- at least in the rainy season but at this time of the year it was just mud. Halfway down the track however it stops at a river. At the time it was virtually dried up so I was able to push my bike across and rejoin the track on the other side. However there does appear to be a way across the sluice gates at this location which could be used in the rainy season.

Reaching the next village instead of continuing towards SDD I made my way back to Dong Yen – past Kam Chanot to Kam Maet where I took the back route to Ban Dung. The weather was very very hot and I used up all my water on the trip.
