Songkran

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 15/04/2011 by Andrew10/06/2011

The four days of Songkran were as mad as ever with the parade taking place on the 13th as usual.

Songkran

There was the usual dancing and throwing water over everybody either from passing cars or people stood on the roadside with barrels of water. Also as usual many people were drinking beer or Rice whisky. Songkran is something that can only be experienced in person rather than described to understand it in full.

Parade

The downside to the festivities are the many accidents due to drunk drivers or revellers in the street wandering in front of moving cars. Despite checkpoints being set up in every village There were  at least two people being Killed to my knowledge in Bandung alone.

A Ride Around

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 29/03/2011 by Andrew10/06/2011

Had a day riding about to Take some more Photographs for uploading to Google earth & hence my website. On the way some people were burning the Rice stubble making it impossible to see the road.

My First destination was the Golden Chedi not Far from Kham Chanot but very rarely visited by Tourist or Locals alike. I also wanted to find out what it was called.

Don Tat

Its called Dontaan which as far as i can work out translates to Pagonda on a Hill.I also passed some of the Mysterious green dishes and this time took a photograph so I could ask Tim what they are used for as every village has one.

Apparently they are used to make fertiliser and are provided free by the Government. However I have never seen them in use and Tim informed me at the most they are used only once a year.

Finally I made a detour to call in at plantation number one to see how it was progressing and if it needed weeding ( Which it didn’t) . These Trees are now nearly Seven years old and a good percentage are big enough to tap.

However I want to wait another year and then maybe enough trees on Plantation number 2 will be mature enough as well.

Start of building house number 3

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 24/03/2011 by Andrew24/03/2011

Today is a lucky day so work can commence on building House number 3. I had told Tim to make it small , but judging by the footings not as small as I wanted

Bandunglife Mail

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 21/03/2011 by Andrew21/03/2011

I have now set up bandunglife mail using the Google mail interface so people can have a bandunglife e-mail account which looks just like gmail & accesed by mail.bandunglife.net url . I have also geo-synced more pictures so they display on the Maps for Hotels, resorts etc.

The migration to the .info domain has gone transparently. At some time I will change the DNS entry for the .co.cc domain so I can remove the redirect & delete the old data.
