Change to Use Panoramio Images

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 16/03/2011 by Andrew16/03/2011

I have changed the front page and the Adjacent Amphoer pages to display pictures from Panoramio instead of using Next Gen Gallery. This has the advantage that the pictures displayed are of a higher quality & load just as quick. Also I have been able to remove the gallerys from my web site reducing disk space usage. It will also make backup/recovery easier as I have to back up less pictures .

Web Site Move

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 15/03/2011 by Andrew15/03/2011

The old url is now re-directing to the new one & I have made some changes as well during the transition. First indications are that the site is running faster . It is certainly easier to maintain with more memory & disk space being available

New House

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 14/03/2011 by Andrew11/05/2011

Initial work has been started on constructing a house near the lake. It is a replacement for the house in Pho Phan but will be smaller. Although it has not been built yet Tim has already got a blue book for it.  Address  141,Ban Non Prasoet,Bandung. The next step is to get electricity laid to the site.

The following Gallery will continue to be added to as work continues

Site Migration

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 13/03/2011 by Andrew13/03/2011

I have migrated the site from a free hosting server to paid hosting. As a consequence I have also changed the url to www.bandunglife.net. However the old site is doing a 301 redirect to the new domain.

I thought it would take me a couple of days to migrate but managed to do it in a few hours.

Plantation Number 3

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 23/02/2011 by Andrew23/02/2011

Have sold Plantation number 3 along with the House in Pho Phan. After paying Tax the money will be re-invested in Land . Possibly buying the plot up for sale adjacent to plot number 2 . However the price might be an issue.

Villages in Amphoe Bandung

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 16/02/2011 by Andrew16/02/2011

I have now mapped most of the 140 Villages in Bandung.  Currently I am missing approx 6 villages which for some reason I can not locate. I suspect some of the Tambon boundaries shown on Google earth might be wrong .  I've uploaded the KML file to this website – http://www.bandunglife.net/bandung/tambon/ – However the village names don't automatically display unless clicked which is a slight nuisance. I also have a map with all the dirt tracks now recorded  however it is currently  to large to be upload .

Day 1 – Bandung to Nong Khai – 83km

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 21/01/2011 by Andrew18/04/2020

Martin & I set off at 9.00am from Eddies bar in Bandung.

Off we set

Most of this route I had done before & we headed up the 2096 and then turned left at Ban Na Hong and headed towards Sang Khom. At Sang Khom we headed out along the 2329 sign posted towards Phon Phisai. Before we reached the main highway we followed the road west Sign posted to Nong Khai. We emerged onto highway 212 five kilometres outside Nong Khai and followed the road into the town to arrive at 1.00pm. Most of the hotels in the centre were fully booked but we found a guest house – the Sam Oar – on the outskirts of town for 500 Bahts a Night (Tel 042 464718 Mob 081 7684313) .

In the afternoon we walked back into Nong Khai for a Drink & a meal but were back in the hotel for 7.00pm ready for the next day.

Dtao Dies

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 20/01/2011 by Andrew20/01/2011

Dtao(star) one of my cats died today – he was quiet all day yesterday. When I came home today at 11 o’clock  he had died. He was only 2 years old. Tim is going to bury him in one of the plantations.
