Large White Elephant

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 29/03/2018 by Andrew03/05/2022

A Large White Elephant has been Spotted between the Villages of Om Ko ( Amphoer Ban Dung) & Ban Na Din Chi ( Amphoer Sawaeng Daen Din).

This used to Be a Single track road leading to a foot bridge across the River Songkram  & continuing as a track only wide enough for motorbikes on the other side. All that was required to connect these two villages.

Now nearing completion It has over the past 12 months  been somewhat upgraded. As can be the seen the new road is Heavily used ( I was passed by at least one motorbike down its entire length of Nearly 6km ). So justifying the huge outlay it must have taken to construct.

My second young cat died today after sitting all night in a bowl of water. Something or someone is definately poisoning them.

Billion Baht Bridge

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 15/12/2017 by Andrew15/12/2017

Well not quite a Billion. The bridge is nearly complete and can now be used ( with care).

A major road has been created leading to & from it. Its purpose is still a complete mystery.

Trip to Thung Fon

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 15/12/2017 by Andrew27/03/2022

Had a cycle to Thung Fon – Ians Second longest Bike Ride ever. Unfortunatley he managed to get a nail through his tyre.

Swimming Pool

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 15/12/2017 by Andrew30/04/2022

The pool is located behind M & B resort.   If you are coming from Bandung drive past the Hospital and you will see the sign for M & B. turn into this road, over two cross roads then take the next turning right, (you will see a small sign for the pool on the wall) which takes you behind another resort, the road then swings left and   then right to complete an S shape.   Stay on the concrete road and when you come out of the S, the pool is on the left a short distance away.   You will see the black sun screen.

The pool itself is not large however it is perfect for teaching you child to swim.    The pool is split in two with one half shallow about 1  metre deep and the other half slightly deeper 1 ½  metres and you can keep your eye on both sections.  The dividing wall is underwater so be careful where you jump in, it is obvious though.

The pool itself is clean and in a reasonable condition. Though painted there is some bear concrete.  There is a sitting area at the entrance to the pool which serves snacks and drinks and if you would like a beer they will fetch you one from the local shop.

All in all, a safe pool, fit for purpose, with a pleasant staff but no lifeguard.   Cost of a swim is 50 baht.

End of the Kham Chanot Phenomenon.

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 07/12/2017 by Andrew30/04/2022

There has been a marked drop in the number of visitors going to Kham Chanot with a lot of the road side stalls selling flowers & Souvenirs having closed down. There are also a significant number of Coffee/food shops that opened to cater for the past influx oif tourists that have closed there doors and presumably gone out of business.

Images like this are now a thing of the past.
