There is a New Global House going to be Built in Ban Dung on the Salt road in the vicinity of Ban Dung Yai. Although construction has not yet started I believe the site has already been Prepared; No News on when it will be Open. This is yet another example of the expanding importance of Ban Dung – especially in view of its forthcoming connectivity to the express Highway system.( See previous Article)
A new Road is under construction from Bueng Kan to Udon Thani which will connect to a new Friendship Bridge crossing the Mekong in Bueng Kan which is nearing completion.The road in Laos on the opposite bank has already been finished.
The Road will pass close to Fao Rai and then come to within 1km of Ban Dung ; crossing the Phen Road and Skirting the Rubbish tip. T
When completed it will greatly reduce the Journey time to Udon Thai & presumably reduce the Heavy Goods traffic which currently has to come through the town. No Date for its completion has yet been given but my understanding is that work has already been started .
Christmas appears to have arrived. I Still have More Lights to put up.
I was Informed Yesterday that Old (English) Geoff had died in the week. He Leaves behind a Teenage Son (Lee) . Nobody has yet heard anything regarding funeral arrangements.
That Means our Numbers are Diminishing fast . At Least four local Farangs have died this Year: Brian;Igloo(Dave Cooper); Louis (saxophonist) and now Geoff.
A Mini Big C has just opened in Ban Dung. It is located on the Same junction as the Yamaha Motor Bike shops. Where the Barbecued Chicken Vendor used to have is store.
The annual Songkran Parade took place as Nornmal starting at 2.00pm . I caught the head of the procession at the GSM bank; but aftr 20 mins it was getting too hot,
The festivities are due to lasted an extra day this year because it fell on a Saturday So the Monday will also b be Holiday.. Click on the post to watch a short video.
With Daniel returning to Ban Dung from Denmark – Bonjour Restaurant has fully re-opened again including the Swimming Pool.
Joys has been extended & the floor leveled throughout providing much more seeting and easy access to the rear Garden.
