A coach traveling from Udon Thani to Chang Mai has crashed in Lampang province killing 2 people with more than 25 injured. The accident occurred at an intersection with the lights apparently on red.

Coach Crash

see  http://www.innnews.co.th/shownews/show?newscode=620877 for a video of the accident.

I’ve done this trip once when there were no direct flights & will never do it again.

Recycling – Thai Style

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 01/05/2015 by Andrew30/04/2022

Unlike the UK – Recycling in Thailand is not compulsory and run by the State but just the opposite the recycling system is run by private individuals who make a tidy profit from recycling waste, there are many people who will collect you recyclable waste and actually pay you for it. Most of these individuals will come to your house in their samlor and collect the waste you have set aside for recycling, they will separate it, weigh it and give you a few Baht’s in the process. Unlike in the UK where the authorities actually charge you for recycling and fine you if you don’t do it.

Waste Collection

These individuals then take it to larger recycling centres – again privately run where they compact it into bales of Plastic, Tin, and Carboard etc. for selling on – again at a tidy profit.

There’s a saying in the UK where’s there’s muck there’s brass, In Thailand that translates as where’s there rubbish there money to be made and not an insignificant amount.

Road Resurfacing

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 01/05/2015 by Andrew01/05/2015

The resurfacing of the main Road through town has finally started,

Road Resurfacing

How long a stretch they will resurface is still not clear, hopefully they will do the complete section through town and fix the rough sections near the shop fronts, and the hole in front of Eddies bar.

Davos Bar Closed

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 27/04/2015 by Andrew03/06/2015

Davo has removed all the fittings and closed the bar. There was nobody interested in buying the business , not that surprising considering the competition in Ban Dung and the long hours entailed in running a Bar. He has moved on to pastures new.
