New River Crossing

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 08/04/2015 by Andrew08/09/2016

I’ve discovered yet another River Crossing of the Songkram River which goes across sluice gates builtacross it. Click on the picture to see its location.

Once across there is a small bridge which crosses a smaller river leading into it. The track here is barely ridable even on a mountain bike so why the bridge was build is a bit of a mystery.

Once across this smaller bridge you can follow a track down the river to Ban Na Sinuan  or head towards the 2281 and Ban Sai Tong . Definately an unusual & interesting route

More New Buildings

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 07/04/2015 by Andrew08/09/2016

Shop UnitsYet more shop units are being built despite many empty units being available around town. This latest one is situated between Pins Cafe and the nightly food market. It is rumoured it will house market stalls but who knows.

Ban Chiang

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 07/04/2015 by Andrew08/09/2016

Had a ride out to Ban Chiang via Thung Fon, They have started to upgrade one of the Red Din roads to Thung Fon for quite a few Kilometers. I Just stopped at the entrance to the Ban Chiang World Herratage centre but didn’t go in.

Then on the return trip I made a 4k detour to Look at Wat Santi Wararam where they are building a new Temple out on the lake.

Ride to Amphoer Phon Phisai

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 27/03/2015 by Andrew08/09/2016

Had a long training ride up to Amphoe Phon Phisai but turned back just 8km short of the Mekong. There was plenty of rice being grown in the area being irrigated by a major river.

It must be nearly 2 years since I had been up this way but I remembered the route ..I headed back via the track around the large lake near Sang Khom & then took the direct road back to Ban Dung Via Thung Kwang Pattana & Kut Du. Distance 85-90k.

Road Improvements

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 18/03/2015 by Andrew08/09/2016

Improvements are continuing on the roads in and around town . They are resurfacing the road opposite the Jungle Grill restaurant, and also repairing the road opposite the hospital where it has been rough and potholed since I can remember.

This is in Addition to widening all the Soi’s by putting new drains in and concreting the red din verges

Ride up to Soem

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 15/03/2015 by Andrew08/09/2016

Had a ride out up to Soem ( 10k short of Fao Rai), There I turned Right and onto the  Kham Sa-at road.

On  reaching the village some of the older signs showed it as Ban Non Sa-at – perhaps they changed its Name.

From There I continued to emerge onto the Ban Muang Road just up from Big Dons resort. Then back home via Bruce’s Village and Ban Wang Thong.

Ban Fang

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 12/03/2015 by Andrew25/03/2015

If you pass through Ban Fang  you might notice quite a few CCTV cameras around the place. Apparently they were installed by the police due to the amount of yaba dealing that goes on in this one village.

Yaba is pronounced Yaa Baa in Thai and literally translates as Crazy Medicine

TOPS Superkoom

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 04/03/2015 by Andrew08/09/2016

A TOPS superkoom shop is opening in Ban Dung on the 14th March ( which  I think translates as Super Value) ; Only the second to have opened in  Udon Thani province & according to their website only the 13th EVER to have opened outside of Bangkok.  ( A further sign of Ban Dungs continuing  growth & prominence ?) . These shops  aim to provide a complete range of quality products from both local and international sources at bargain prices. They also  offer a wide range of health, beauty care and personal hygiene products.
