Whats Going on

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 11/10/2009 by Andrew11/10/2009

Have Mowed all between the trees on farm number two and we are now ploughing between them. The Weeds around the lake are constantly growing and having to be cleared.

A few days ago my wife saw a Banded Krait – Luckily not near our farm. These are venemous and it can be fatal if they bite you. I saw a rat snake in the mowed weeds whilst doing a bit more weed clearing but these are not venemous and often eaten by the locals.

With the end of the rains they are getting ready for Salt production again around Bandung. The Brine pools are being made ready again and repaired in places.

Birds & Fish

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 10/10/2009 by Andrew10/10/2009

Went to farm number 2 to clear some more weeds. However very hot today so gave up after a couple of hours. However I saw the Kingfisher again that I saw last year and I thought had probably been killed by poachers

Also saw a Large Snakehead ( Fish) in the lake – at least a couple of feet long – The largest I have seen.

Bandung Makeover

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 01/10/2009 by Andrew01/10/2009

They are now extending the dual carriage way into Bandung out to the “City” limits, also  new pavements and drains are going in everywhere. In addition the remaining dirt rounds in town have been concreted. Two opposite me have been done in the last month.  Bandung must be on the up with new buildings in the centre being constructed as well.

Second Day of Painting – Typhoon Ketsana

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 30/09/2009 by Andrew30/09/2009

Have been painting for the second day in succession, Yesterday painted the Living Room and kitchen,Today the master bedroom. Still two more bedrooms to do but will tdo hem over the next few weeks. Now everybody is expecting to be on the edge of Typhoon ketsana , it went dark earlier than normal tonight but as yet no heavy rain or strong winds. The rain won’t be a problem but if we have severe winds I suspect it will damage many of our trees so hopefully it will pass us by, it is predicted to pass about 200k south of us at the moment

Day around the Lake

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 28/09/2009 by Andrew28/09/2009

Went down to the lake again today to clear some more weeds. Relaxing afterwards I spotted a pair kingfishers again . I also saw another one a reddish brown in colour but too far away to identify .next Time I go to Nong Khai I will but a pair of binoculars from the street market.  Our dog (saw) has now been taken of his chain so he can roam around freely. Yesterday Tim caught somebody trying to steel some bananas but they ran away before they could be caught. Hopefully saw should deter any future thefts.

Day of Rain

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 25/09/2009 by Andrew25/09/2009

Rained all day today – good for my turf . However Keith got married today – so not good for him. He had a small do in the evening at Eddie’s bar. You can see the photos on Eddies web site

90 Day Report

BANDUNGLIFE Posted on 24/09/2009 by Andrew24/09/2009

Went to Nong Khai for my 90 day report at the immigration department, then straight to Udon for the monthly shop. Also bought some more turf and paint for the inside if the house, When I got home we put the turf down so the garden is now finished.

Also bought a strimmer to do the borders.
